How to Adopt a Dog

When you adopt a pet from a shelter or rescue, you save lives and change that animal’s life forever.

Once you have decided which dog you are interested in adopting from Lil Rascals, complete the adoption application by clicking on the button below. Please make sure to answer every question honestly and completely. Incomplete apps will not be considered.

A little about our process: Once we have received your application, please be patient as we go through them. If an applicant meets all the qualifications for a particular dog, we fully screen the app, talk with your vet, speak with your references, talk with the applicant, and then the applicant speaks with the foster mom/dad. If all is approved to that point, we schedule an in-person home visit. If we do not have a volunteer in your area, then we can not complete a required in-person home visit and we can not consider your app. (Please do not request a video home visit.) Once that has all been done and an application has been approved, we schedule a meet & greet with the pup/potential adopter and their dog(s) if they choose to bring them. If it is a perfect match at the meet, the adoption contract is completed, the adoption donation is paid (we accept cash, check, credit/debit card or PayPal) and the dog goes home with the adopter.

Please keep in mind that Lil Rascals Dog Rescue is run by volunteers with full time jobs, families and furry kids. Please be patient as we go through the applications, as we have many dogs that we receive multiple applications for. It is our responsibility to protect our rescue pups and find the best home possible for each pup.

Our Promise To You:

• We do our best to ensure healthy, adoptable animals by providing a pre-adoption assessment and veterinary care.
• We assess each animal’s temperament to the best of our ability, and provide as much information as possible regarding the animal’s behavior and personality.
• Each pet you adopt from Lil Rascals Dog Rescue is:
  • Current on vaccinations
  • Spayed or neutered (if medically able)
  • De-wormed puppies (adults if positive for parasites)
  • Microchipped
  • Heartworm tested (for dogs over 8 months old)

Requirements for Adoption:

• The applicant must be 21 years of age or older.
• The applicant must have the knowledge and consent of your landlord if you do not own your property. All deposits required by your landlord must be paid prior to the finalization of the adoption. Please note that pet policy will be checked.
• The applicant must take full/complete responsibility for this dog for its lifetime.
• The applicant must agree to keep your dog on a monthly (or yearly) heart worm preventative.
